The Alliance is now an official part of the EPP party

The European Centre-Right LGBT+ Alliance has been granted an official and formal status
within the EPP – the Alliance is now voted in as an Associated Entity. The historic decision
was taken almost unanimously at the EPP Political Assembly in Helsinki on Friday, March
10 th .

– We are very happy with the decision and with the warm welcome we have received
from EPP member parties from all over Europe, which also showed in the vote today
at the Political Assembly. Our close cooperation with the EPP family now deepens
even more when we have a formal status within the party and the political family,
comments Alliance President Fredrik Saweståhl.

The European Centre-Right LGBT+ Alliance has been in talks with the EPP to gain the new
status for several months. President Fredrik Saweståhl attended the meeting in Helsinki and
gave a short presentation about the Alliance and our common values.

The EPP presidency under the leadership of EPP-President and MEP Manfred Weber
welcomed the Alliance and showed great support for the move of granting the organisation
the status of Associated Entity.

– We in the Alliance look forward to the possibility to promote the core values of the
EPP family about freedom and a Europe for every citizen, as a formal member part of
the EPP. We also believe that this will be the start of a positive dialogue about LGBT+
issues with even more parties and politicians all across Europe, concludes Fredrik
Saweståhl.
